5 ways to stay on track while traveling

THIS MIGHT SOUND CRAZY TO SOME OF YOU, BUT THERE IS IN FACT SOME WAYS TO STAY ON TRACK WHILE YOU TRAVEL! I THINK A LOT OF TIME WHEN WE ARE PULLED FROM OUR DAILY ROUTINE WE FIND OURSELVES LIKE A FISH OUT OF WATER. BUT THE BEAUTY OF LIFE IS BEING ABLE TO ENJOY IT, SEE THE WORLD AND TRAVEL! AND THIS CAN’T BE DONE IN THE COMFORT OF OUR OWN HOMES… YET! LOL

TRAVEL SHOULD BE ENJOYABLE AND STRESS FREE. HERE ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITE WAYS TO KEEP MY GOALS IN MIND, ENJOY AND DO MY VERY BEST TO STAY ON TRACK WHILE I TRAVEL!

USE THE TOOLS AROUND YOU

MORE OFTEN THAN NOT, HOTELS HAVE GUEST ACCESS TO A PASSABLE GYM, SWIMMING POOL OR TRAILS ON SIGHT. OR PREPARE A QUICK WORKOUT TO DO IN YOUR HOTEL ROOM IN AS LITTLE AS 20 MINUTES LIKE BODY WEIGHT SQUATS, PUSH UPS, BURPEES AND JUMPING JACKS! GETTING IN 20-30 MINS OF EXERCISE WHILE YOU TRAVEL CAN HELP KEEP YOU PLUGGED INTO YOUR GOALS, AND ALSO HELP KEEP YOUR ENERGY UP! IF YOU’RE CAMPING, OPT FOR LONG HIKES OR A BIKE RIDE. GET CREATIVE AND BE SURE TO HAVE FUN WITH IT!

KNOW YOUR FOOD OPTIONS AHEAD OF TIME

IF YOU’RE ANYTHING LIKE ME, YOU LIKE TO HAVE A SOLID PLAN BEFORE TRAVELING. KNOWING GROCERY STORE, RESTAURANTS, AIRPORT OPTIONS, DRIVE THROUGHS AND FOOD NEAR LIVING QUARTERS IS A GREAT WAY TO MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES MOST OF THE TIME WHILE TRAVELING. NOW, I’M NOT SUGGESTING YOU SPEND ALL OF YOUR TRAVELING DAYS EATING SALADS & GRILLED CHICKEN! BUT IF YOU OPTED FOR PIZZA & WINGS ON NIGHT, TRY TO SWITCH IT UP THE NEXT DAY WITH SOMETHING A LITTLE HIGHER IN PROTEIN! I ALSO LIKE TO KEEP YOGURT, FRESH FRUIT & PROTEIN BARS IN MY ROOM FOR EASY SNACKING! I PREFER TO SAVE CALORIES FOR THE FRENCH FRIES I’LL PROBABLY BE HAVING AT DINNER!

CHOOSE WISELY

EATING OUT! THE BEST PART OF TRAVEL IMO! FOR THE MAJORITY OF YOUR TRAVEL EATS TRY TO STICK WILL FAMILIAR FOODS YOU WOULD NORMALLY TURN TO DURING YOUR WEEKS NOT TRAVELING. OPT TO SAVE ROOM BY SKIPPING OUT ON BREAD & CHIPS BEFORE YOUR MEAL ARRIVES. TRY TO CHOOSE BAKED, GRILLED OR SAUTEED FOOD RATHER THAN FRIED. ASK FOR DRESSINGS, BUTTER & GRAVY ON THE SIDE SO YOU CAN STILL ENJOY THESE IN YOUR OWN MODERATION. MAKING SURE YOU EAT ALL OF YOUR PROTEIN WILL SURELY KEEP YOU FULLER AND ON TRACK WITH YOUR GOALS! ENJOYING AN ADULT BEVERAGE? 1-2 AT DINNER OR AFTER WON’T RUIN YOUR PROGRESS, I PROMISE. OPT FOR A LIGHT BEER, WHITE WINE OR A VODKA SODA WITH FRESH FRUIT! LIKE I SAID BEFORE! SAVE YOUR CALORIES FOR THOSE POSSIBLE FRIES THAT SOMEHOW END UP ON THE TABLE!

DRINK YOUR WATER

THIS GOES WITHOUT SAYING! WATER IS VERY IMPORTANT, AND OFTEN MOST NEGLECTED! WHEN YOU’RE TRAVELING IT’S COMMON TO GRAB A FEW FANCY DRINKS AT THE AIRPORT, WITH DINNER OR LOUNGING BY THE POOL. THIS IS TOTALLY FINE! BUT BE SURE TO DRINK WATER BETWEEN THOSE ADULT BEVERAGES. THIS IS HELP KEEP YOU HYDRATED BECAUSE ALCOHOL DEHYDRATES YOU.

BE SURE TO KEEP SOME WATER IN YOUR ROOM, WITH YOU WHILE YOU GO FROM PLACE TO PLACE AND OF COURSE AT THE AIRPORT! WATER WATER WATER! DID I MENTION TO DRINK WATER?

MAKE SURE YOU’RE ENJOYING LIFE

THIS GOES WITHOUT SAYING, BUT LET ME CLARIFY! LIFE IS MEANT TO BE LIVED. LET’S NOT SPEND EVERY MOMENT OF TRAVEL STRESSING ABOUT EVERY SINGLE DECISION WE MAKE. HAVE A PLAN. STICK TO IT MOST DAYS. DO YOUR VERY BEST. MOVE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE… AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON’T FORGET TO ENJOY! PART OF STAYING ON TRACK IS GIVING YOUR BODY TIME TO REST, RECOOP, EAT A FEW TREATS AND JUST ENJOY!
